Боже,сделай меня таким,каким видит меня моя собака.

Одно время (лет в 15) я мало читала, притом что читала я постоянно. Связанно это было с тем, что я читала ГП по кругу. Замкнутому. Заканчивала 4ую книгу (на тот момент, это была крайняя выпущенная) и возвращалась к первой. Потом вторая, третья, снова четвертая, снова первая. Мне всегда было мало. Но речь не о ГП.

Похожая тенденция у меня наметилась с "Ганнибалом". А поскольку я, случается, не очень внимательное к не очевидным деталям существо, то мне только на пользу. С удивлением открываю моменты, которые средний человек открывает с первого просмотра. Не знаю, с чем связана моя "туповатость" в отношении любимейшего сериала. Но, раз так, будем брать количеством просмотров.

Захотелось отметить такую мысль (может она потом во что-то еще трансформируется, может нет).


И это Джек Кроуфорд. С одной стороны мне нравится, как видит его Фуллер. И как видит его Лоуренс Фишборн.

С другой стороны у меня не выстраивается пазл, который есть в книге, который я слышу в сериале, понимаю в сериале, но не вижу. При прочтении "Ягнят" у меня возникло четкое ощущение что это очень проницательный человек, достаточно сдержанный и может и с ярком выраженным чувством собственной значимости, но держащим его под контролем.

И я определенно не вижу этого у Кроуфорда-Фишборна. Он, кажется, наоборот представляет слабые стороны ФБР: слепую самоуверенность, narrow-mindness, неуместное давление на окружающий, выстроенное только на собственном авторитете. Да, сила и энергетика, которую он привносит - поразительна (нельзя не согласиться с мнением Аарона Абрамса об этой энергетике). Но это не та энергетика, перед которой хочется преклоняться. Это "преклонение" должно я нахожу в книге (особенно в случае отношений Кроуфорд-Старлинг - просто на высшем уровне). Он определенно воспринимается как некое божество. На которое можно положится. Это ощущение "преклонения" я ловлю в глазах Уилла-Хью в первой серии второго сезона. От этого взгляда можно взвыть. От отчаяния того, что он не может доказать свою невиновность человеку, который очень много значит для него, его уважение, его вера - они краеугольны для Уилла Грэма. Но я едва ли вижу Кроуфорда-Фишборна достойным этого взгляда. После понимания этого взгляда, мне кажется, что Кроуфорд мог бы (должен бы) стать реальным конкурентом Ганнибала. Достойным противником. Куда опаснее самого доктора Лектора. Возможно, это бы вывело сюжет на другой уровень. Возможно, погубило бы историю.

Но мы имеем, что имеем. И, по правде, я даже рада. Мне нравится компрометирование "сил добра". В определенном смысле, потому что это не столько компрометирование, сколько адекватный игнор, приписываемого им "всемогущества и безгрешности".

Тем не менее, меня увлекает поиск возможностей, чтобы максимально разнообразить восприятие истории.

Futurelearn - Stereoscopy - week 2 - the End

I've finished the course on streoscopy and stereoscopic photography provided by FutureLearn and the University of Edinburgh. I can say that it was quite useful (as when I started my offline photo course I felt quite comfortable when we went through the history of photography as I knew some names and got the connections between them. Not a big deal but... I did enjoy this feeling) and exiting. I really got interested in stereophotography and I am even thinking over the possibility of doing something like that. It definitely has a certain charm.

Stick to the point: During the course there were some discussions on relevant topics. This one I'd like to speak on here. You, whoever you are, welcome to share your thoughts about it, as usual.

Here it is

In the 19th century, stereo views were considered by some to be so real, and so convenient to use that they almost replaced the desire to travel.

Do you think our current use of the internet and sharing travel images by social media, has reduced our desire to travel?

When we do travel and take photographs, are we enjoying being somewhere different - or are we too absorbed in capturing an image, to feel a sense of place?

This phenomenon of the 19th century was called "armchair travel" because one only needed an armchair, a stereoscope and a set of pictures. No tickets, no luggage. The easiest way to see lots of things and less dangerous (taking into account the means of transport one had at his service).

In my opinion, social media nowadays doesn't kill the desire to travel and even vice versa it definetely promotes such desires. It is more and more important for people to see things with their own eyes. And that's true that you can't substitute these impressions with plain pictures. I've already touched upon the subject that to be there-somewhere is more important that to read all the books on the topic. Sad but true. It's sad because there still people who have no opportunity to travel and these pictures are probably all they have to see the world. The Internet just shows us what we can't get and probably never will be able. This is how I feel from time to time when come across pictures of places where I've been or would like to be. Not always, not always but I know this feeling too good. Social media definitely makes ME envy at the possibilities to travel which I don't have. I try to get over this feeling but not successful enough.

As for the second question I absoutely agree with the statement that capturing an image (and immediately sharing it in the social networks) dominates the feeling of the place. I think this point needs no proofs. The lifestyle is to be blame for. But we can fight with that.
Of course, it's natural to want and to be able to "take" such memories from your travelling. I am a person who never leaves home without a camera if something interesting is likely to happen. Especially, if it's a real travel. But I consider it cruicial to see and feel the world directly, at the given moment, foggeting everything else, that is what called - carpe diem.

1. Наткнулась на сборник рассказов Стивена Кинга. Почитываю. Удивляюсь (не то чтобы я сомневалось) но все равно радостно, как он свободно обращается к разным жанрам в своих рассказах и хорошо с ними справляется. Это и фантастический рассказ ("Пляж") и готический роман ("Человек, который никому не подавал руки") и классические страшилки ( "Обезьяна", "Плот") и, я бы назвала это философскими притчами - "Кратчайший путь для миссисс Тодд", "Всемогущий текст-процессор" и "Долгий джонт". Как говорится - Enjoy!

2. По результатам второго занятия по основам фотографии я все еще уверена, что "внутри там маленькие чертики, которые рисуют картинки".

Futurelearn - Stereoscopy - week 1

I've looked through 25 pages of brilliant examples of stereoscopic photographs provided by the National Museum of Scotland. Most of them belong to the Victorian period when they were made. And I've alredy have something to say about what catched my attention above all others.

I think architecture is a perfect subject for such photos. As it provides depth to the pictures. It invites audience to follow inside the picture, creates a maze inspite its (of architecture) clear forms. Literally one can't take their eyes off. Of course, one need have a special equipment, that combines two pictures together and makes them a singe one. I have to applied my imagination until I get a chance. They are definitely worth seeing.

I wish Scotland was a bit closer, speaking not about kilometeres, but about opportunities.

Futurelearn - Film Production - 1 week

I came across this online learning platform thanks to somebody's post (I guess that somebody is in my favourites here, but I cannot find this note with the link any more). It's a shame as I prefer to mention people whose ideas I used and use. As a matter, of fact this probably doesn't matter. Because you can easily google it like "Futurelearn.com".

Well, there are lots of different corses made by different universities or some other companies and institutions. Everyone is free to join any course. No payment unless you want to obtain a participation certificate. To do this you need pounds.

I've decided to try not only because I liked a couple of courses but also to master the language as all of them are in English. That's why I try to leave comments, express my opinion on that or this issue. I've been finishing my first week of the course called "Film Production". Recently, I really get interested in the topic, but at the moment I can't find any opportunity to study it offline. No money and time either. so I just thought that it might be a good idea to learn some things this way. Just to be aware of how this industry works in general.

Within the first week you get a brief outlook on the industry. There are articles and short videos with the information. The rest is up to you.

All is organized in a typical "american" way: you're welcome, share your thoughts, there are no loosers here... no demands... choose your pace. That's nice, but after years of typical russian education it's still a bit weird though I don't have any prejudices about "nice and easy and comfortable way of study".

The introductory course seems to be quite supeficial, but it gave me some food for thought. It really gives you time to get information step by step. Now I have an idea about main phases of film production, people who are responsible for each phase, in general. The most interesting task for me was to look through the closing credits searching for some unusual and/or unknown job positions. I'm still working out on my list. Also the students have to study the budgets of their favourite films and find out what budget type they are reffered to.

By the end of week a quizze awaits for me. Probably, I'll do it tomorrow. Look through the week information once again, brush up a couple of classifications, stages of productions, key "players" on the set.

We'll see what is coming next.

Not sure, whether it is useful to write such notes every week or not. In fact, mostly this is just a retell of what this course looks like. But I'd like to do it because in my opinion writing in English is always for good. And maybe, just MAYBE I'd have some thoughts to share. Why not, at last?

Retelling

Еще один способ не запустить с концами свой английский - пересказы. Мне всегда помогали, поскольку в процессе совершенно реально зазубрить правильные формы, словосочетания, предлоги. Ну и лишний повод поговорить вслух (дома) или потренировать память, например, в пути из точки А в точку В (уже про себе).

бла-бла-бла

Несколько раз подбиралась к пособию Advanced Stories for Reproduction. Маленькие истории (ни несколько абзацев) на бытовые ситуативные темы. Главный плюс, что есть текст (в отличии от свободного мыслеизлияния), который и заставляет придерживаться структуры (не уходить в пространное жонглирование одними и теми же фразами). При этом маленький текст не взрывает мозг и его "поучить" можно практически где угодно и когда угодно.

В целом, это попытка выбраться из банальных английских фраз, с неуклюжей русской структурой, которые появились у меня в силу редкого обращения к устной английской речи.

Надеюсь, получится работать с этими текстами здесь на регулярной основе. Посмотрим как пойдет.
Конечно, здесь мой пересказ будет написан-напечатан, но, возможно я поэкспериментирую с записью. Без подглядываний.

1st

1. As one approaches some crossroads one has to stop before driving onto the main road. It depends on a sign which says that a driver should stop or just slow down without actual stopping (of course, if there's nothing coming going along the main street). Drivers who are on the main road don't need neither to stop or to go slow.
Mr. Williams was a very careful driver. One evening he was driving home from work when he came to a crossroad. The sign said "Slow" so Mr. Williams slowed down, looked both sides to be sure that there are no cars and drove on without stopping.
At that moment he heard a police whistle so he pulled in to the side of the road and stopped. A policeman came to him with a notebook and a pencil in his hands. "You didn't stop at that crossing," said the policeman.
"But the sign doesn't say "Stop," answered Mr. Williams, "It just says "Slow" and I did go slow".
The policeman looked around him and a look of surprise came over his face. He put his notebbook and his pencil away and said "Well, I'll be blowed! I am in the wrong street."

Brushing up my English

Хочу попробовать использовать дайри как средство запоминания новых (и не очень новых слов). Короче, побалуюсь, посмотрим насколько меня хватить. За основу беру Advanced Everyday English Стивена Коллинза. Книжка представляет собой уроки с неким количеством интересных и актуальных слов и выражений to remember с английскими дефинициями и контекстными примерами. Моя тактика (единственное отличие от книги) будет в сочинении собственных примеров и собственных дефиниций. Примеры будут пополняться с апдейтом постов через определенное время (а может не будет) ака возвращение-повторение-запоминание.

Опыт составления собственных примеров был на 2-ом курсе и зарекомендовал себя хорошо при освоении лексики. Ключевой момент - время от времени возвращаться к ним. С учетом того как долго, в среднем, я зависаю на дайри - попытка не пытка.

В двух словах - если попрет - тут будет некоторое количество английского, в чисто учебных целях.

Попробуем-с

1. OUTGOING
- 1) a sociable person, one who can easily be talked into smth., smb. talkative.
She is so outgoing. I'm sure she'll be good at children.

- 2) a definition for smb. who is going to quit his position at work, to retire.
Look! That is our outgoing chef. He's already packing his things.

- 3) letters that are to be sent.
Please, put outgoing letters here.

INCOMING - an antonym - letters that one receives.
All incoming letters are to check up.

NB:
OUTGOINGS - personal expences on renting or paying bills.
Pay attention to all your outgoings.

2.OFF THE RECORD
- something which is said in an unofficial way, not to be published.
She will never get this job but it's off the record. Remember!

ON RECORD - an antonym, something to be said in an official way.
You've told that on record you can't deny your statement now.

3. TO GO BY
1) to be sure about smth. which is told in a book or said by smb.
Don't go by her words. She is a real liar.
He went by the book though he didn't share the point of view of its author.

2) to pass by
The time in the summercamp went by very quickly.
ONLY FOR TIME!

4. TO BAFFLE
- to be confused by smth., don't get the idea of smth.
He was baffled by her behaviour.

5. HARDSHIP
- the period of time when one experiences lack of smth., when one has to give up smth. pleasant.
To live abroad became a real hardship for me.

6. TO BE IN ONE'S ELEMENT
- to be good at smth., when smth. is your cup of tea.
When I see how she works it's clear that she's definitely in her element.

7. TO BRUSH UP
- to repeat/revise some information.
I need to brush up the classification of parts of speech before my exam.

8. TOUCHY
- to be very sensetive; a theme that you have to be very careful talking on.
Be careful telling him that news he's so touchy.
This issue is very touchy she has to think over how to talk about that.

BE THICK-SKINNED - to be not that sensetive.
You are unlikely to upset him he's quite thick-skinned.

9. CLICHé
- a statement which is often and widely-used, so often, that its meaning is fading away.
Don't use in your CV these awful clichés

10. TO LAY OUT

1) to put things the way that everything will be obvious, understandable.
He laid out everything having hidden hothing.

2) LAYOUT, n. - a plan of some building, a map of some town.
Look at the layout we probably can use this road.

3) - to spend a lot of money without withing it.
I have laid out pretty much to have my car repaired.
